2019 Summer Workamping Reviews

This past summer we took a different approach to our seasonal workamping jobs. We worked for different companies and used other resources besides Workamper News to find these jobs.

Levi is a scuba instructor but hasn’t had consistent work in this field since we started fulltime RVing. In an attempt to keep up with his diving and instructor skills, we turned to Indeed.com for scuba jobs.

We were running this job search several months before the upcoming summer. Most scuba diving jobs we found wanted instructors or salespeople right away. Only a couple advertised for the summer months, Waterfront Restoration in Long Lake being one of the few. We have really enjoyed RVing in Minnesota so he applied.

After Levi applied and interviewed for the position, I started looking for a job for myself. I didn’t find too many campgrounds around that area and the ones that were located nearby Waterfront Restoration were not hiring. I took another route suggested by a fellow workamper and became a member of KOA in order to access their workamping job ads.

Minneapolis Southwest KOA Holiday was hiring! It is located in Jordan which is about 40 minutes from Waterfront Restoration’s office/shop. It wasn’t the ideal location considering Levi’s commute but we both agreed that we’d have a spot to park the rig and a little more money from my job there to make ends meet.

Levi worked for a brief time at the KOA with me, before the campground opened and the final weeks before closing.

We made a little video about each of our jobs including information on our positions, responsibilities, benefits packages, and overall experiences. Enjoy!
