Hi everyone!  It’s Natalie with Henley’s Happy Trails and I am playing around with a new app that allows me to record directly from my android screen, so this video will be featured all from my Android. The app is  called Screen Recorder for anyone interested.

But I digress…back to why I am making this video.

One of the biggest questions on the minds of  beginning full-time RVers is Can I afford this lifestyle?

This concern is one of the reasons many prospective full-timers delay or just completely drop their plan to pack up the RV and hit the road for good (or a least for a predetermined time). These concerns are justifiable.  There are many factors to consider before taking on this nomadic life, but it isn’t an impossible task, especially when there are experienced and knowledgeable RVers out there that have been there, done that.  Enter Julie and Sean Chickery of Chickery’s Travels

Julie and Sean have been full-time RVing for well over 5 years. The couple shares their RV adventures, campground reviews, maintenance tips, and RV budgeting advice on their website.  They are also presenters at several RV shows and conferences around the nation and (like us) are scheduled to present at this year’s Workamper Rendezvous in October.  Their Rendevous seminars will focus on RV finances and budgeting tips.

Julie and Sean co-wrote and published Full-Time RV Finance which is available on Amazon in ebook and paperback formats. This is a must-have resource for anyone thinking about or in the planning stages of becoming a full-time RVer. The book details different ways to fund your lifestyle and gives examples of people that are working remotely from their RV and others that  work seasonal jobs (like us) that require traveling to a location for a given amount of time, weeks to months.

Also in the book, the Chickerys list and explain every possible expense a full-time RVer should expect (from initially purchasing your RV to annual expenses to everyday travel) and offer tips on how to save money here and there. On top of that, they provide a slew of resources that directly link to the online source to get immediate answers to any pressing questions.

We WISH we had this book as our guide when we first embarked on our open road journey. It’s a complete layout of how to go about full-time RVing in a practical, responsible way, leaving little room for fear or apprehension.  Even now, after 5 years of full-time RVing, we learned quite a bit from their book.  One particular takeaway from Full-Time RV Finance that we are incorporating into our RV finances is the use of a free online program called Every Dollar

Every Dollar is a mobile budgeting tool that can be used on your desktop or via app on your Android or iphone.  Users are able to create and keep track of their monthly budget.  The easy-to-use program involves (1) selecting and/or inputing monthly expenses, (2) recording purchases as they happen, and (3) keeping track of what is spent and remaining so you can be in control of your money.  Every Dollar is a supplemental tool created by money-management expert and national radio personality, Dave Ramsey.

Along with other resources, Julie and Sean encourage using Every Dollar to ensure that you stick to the budget and keep with your plans to pay off debt, save up for an RV, or save for a rainy day (depending on your personal financial goals).

Besides their book, Julie and Sean Chickery have put together an online course all about Full-Time RV Finance.  It includes 4 modules with 4 videos that you can watch online at your leisure.  The video classes address financial planning, RV purchasing, budgeting on the road, ways to save and make money on your travels, and also guide you on getting out of debt.

The program starts June 15th and is $99 to purchase.  HOWEVER, they are offering an Early Bird Special before June 15th, $50 off the original price!!!

Check out their Full-Time RV Finance Video Series, including more details on the classes and to sign up at a highly discounted rate.
