A Must-Have for All Motorhome RVs: Propane Bypass Kit

Our workamping jobs have taken us all around the nation, from coast to coast. Depending on the job, we’ve stayed in a spot anywhere from a couple of weeks to six months. Once we get to a new location, the first thing we do is set up our motorhome, inside and out. We make our RV spot our home sweet home for however long we are there. This means installing our extend-a-stay propane kit, also referred to as Propane Brass 4-Port Tee or a propane bypass valve kit.

Whatever the terminology, this device, which consists of a bypass valve and hose, allows motorhome owners to hook up to a portable propane tank, thus eliminating the need to move the RV every time the internal tank runs out. Setting up an Extend-A-Stay kit is fairly simple.

  1. Great article and video. I’ve had extend stays installed on both of my motorhomes; the first by a friend and the second by an RV dealer. I feel that it is a lot safer than having a propane truck deliver to my site (not to mention the cost) and also safer not to have to move the motorhome to a propane fill station. I’ve safely hooked up countless “BBQ bottles” to my RVs over the years, saving hundreds of dollars and a lot of time and effort.

    1. Thanks for commenting! You have very valid points regarding the benefits of installing extend-a-stays! Thanks for sharing and hope everything is going well for you, Debby!
