Levi Patches A Fresh Water Tank and Gets Burned

Our fresh water tank developed a crack in an easily accessible location. While searching for a fix, I learned that many fresh water tanks are made out of a plastic called polyethylene. This plastic is not easy to patch because nothing adheres to it.

A sure-fire way to fix a polyethylene fresh water tank is to use a plastic welding iron with polyethylene strips. Fortunately, Amazon has a polyethylene welding kit that comes with everything needed.

So far, a month of dry camping and over a 1000 miles later, the patched tank has no leaks. Overall, this method is several hundred dollars cheaper that buying and installing a whole new tank.
