RV Newbie to Pro with “My RV Mentor”

When RV enthusiast and author Jack Hunnicutt set out to write his book My RV Mentor: For the Newbie and Experienced, he reflected on his early years as an RV owner.

He writes, “When I began my RV adventures many years ago, I relied on friends and fellow RV owners to steer me in the right direction and with that along with a big dose of trial and error I learned how to operate my RV and to navigate the complex details of traveling with your “home” attached to the back of your vehicle.”

With “My RV Mentor,” Hunnicutt details everything from owning to operating to maintaining your RV.

“My RV Mentor is a work of love allowing me to leverage my past experiences learning the ropes, taking the good with the bad and all the great memories along the way. And yes, I have made mistakes and wasted money along the way but keep in mind that with mistakes valuable lessons are learned and your knowledge expands. By sharing my recommendations, suggestions and experiences I hope to help and inspire you to realize your potential and rise to the challenge at hand.”

How To Get a Copy of “My RV Mentor” and More from Hunnicutt

My RV Mentor: For the Newbie and Experienced was released in December 2020. You can purchase it on Amazon in paperback or eBook versions.

Hunnicutt’s second book, My Airstream Mentor: How to “Airstream” for Beginners and the Well-Traveled, is all about owning a “silver bullet.” I wrote a book review on it via RV Life, here. This publication is also available on Amazon in paperback and eBook versions.

You can also gather more helpful tips from Hunnicutt on his many media platforms. These include My RV Mentor Facebook Group and YouTube channel, Landing Zone Home. Hunnincutt gets down to the basics (or refreshers for others) about owning and operating an RV in many of his videos. In the clip below, he discusses GFCI outlets, dos and don’ts of awnings, and monitoring RV tires.

Thinking of Taking off Full-Time in your RV?

If the thought of taking off in your RV full-time sounds like a real possibility, but you are still figuring out how to afford life on the road, check out our new book Seasonal Workamping for a Living: How We Did It. The concept of working and living in an RV is referred to as “workamping” or “work camping.” Workamping can come in the form of remote work or on-site jobs like long term or seasonal work. Our book focuses on seasonal workamping.

In our book, Levi and I detail the different seasonal jobs we have worked in our 5+ years on the road. We explain how we find jobs, how to select jobs based on your preferences, the application process, and what to expect once you land the gig! We discuss budgeting and lessons we have learned as seasonal workampers.

Seasonal Workamping for a Living: How We Did It is also available on Amazon in paperback and eBook versions.
