So…what is the Ladder Gadget, anyway?

30+ Things to Hang on your Ladder Gadget

For us, the Ladder Gadget has been one of our most resourceful tools on the road.  It serves many functions that include adding aesthetic appeal to our home on wheels, drying attire and gear, and storing supplies, to name a few. The list below details possible items to hang from your Ladder Gadget.  Always keep in mind that this device is rated to hold a total of 20 pounds.

Patio Use

Flags or Banners: Announce your favorite football team, patriotism for our country, or seasonal-themed pictures with bold flags and banners.  Drape your flag or banner with pride and switch them up as often as you like!

Signs: Display custom-made, decorative signs from your Ladder Gadget.

Bird Feeders: Bird watching is a popular hobby amongst RVers.  What better way to catch glimpses of these majestic creatures than to have them come to you on your hanging bird feeder or two.

Shingles: Listen to the sweet tunes of nature after mounting your shiny shingles.

Plants:  Fix a hanging plant on the rod.  Besides blooming flowers, RVers can grow their choice of herbs or sweet strawberries in their pot.  There’s nothing like fresh produce and spices right outside your door.

Wind Kites/Socks: Dangle these whimsical toys from your Ladder Gadget and let the wind do its job.

Grill/Fish Fillet Utensils:  Complete that outdoor camping kitchen with a utensil rack.  Hang your grilling and/or fish fillet tools for easy access and storage.

Paper Towels:  Use the rod as an out-of-the-way spot to prop your paper towels for anytime use.

Lantern: Illuminate your sitting area or workshop spot with a decorative lantern or utility light.

Insect Traps or Mosquito Lamp Repellents: Keep the pesky bugs away from your picnic table or patio chairs by hanging one of these from your nearby Ladder Gadget.

Thermometer: Fix an outside thermometer on your gadget to keep track of the temperature throughout the day.

Trash Bag or Small Bin: Hang a plastic bag or a small bin to collect outside trash.

Dartboard:  Invite some of your campground neighbors over for a couple of brewskies and a game of darts.

Folding Chairs: Collapsible, folding chairs can be hung and stored on the Ladder Gadget.

Hats: This is yet another place to hang your collection of baseball caps and other hats.

Outdoorsy Gear Needs

Rugged Outdoor Sporting Attire: There is a multitude of outdoor activities that can be enjoyed with RVing.  The Ladder Gadget allows you to keep the outdoor fun outside, too. Hunting, fishing, riding ATVs, and hiking involve special attire that gets dirty fast.  Mud, sand, water, and sweat are all things you’d like to keep out of the RV, especially when you know that this clothing will most likely be worn multiple times on your stay.

Camping Equipment: Although RVing may be roughing it for some people, there are other RVers that still like laying out under the stars the old fashion way, camping.   What happens to the sleeping bag and tent afterwards? These items need to air out or dry up before rolling them back into their storage compartment, unless you prefer moldy, stuffy gear.

Sports Equipment: If RVing is your excuse to go more places to play sports, then you may have your hands full with an array of sports gear.  Keep it readily available by storing it on the Ladder Gadget. Store your sports balls in a mesh bag, hang tennis rackets and paddles, and dangle ski poles and hiking sticks.

Clothing and Gear for Treatment: Depending on where your travels lead, sometimes it’s necessary to prepare your supplies for the activity.  If you are planning a day in the snow, treating your clothes and shoes with a water repellent product is easier to apply if they are hanging up.  In the same respect, when we are planning a hike in a forest, we like to spray our shirts, pants, boots, and backpacks with insect repellent. Tick bites are no fun.

Snorkel and Scuba Gear: The Ladder Gadget proves to be a more convenient mode of air drying this equipment in one location.  Masks, fins, snorkels, life jackets, BCDs (buoyancy control device), and wetsuits can be hung from the gadget.  A word of caution: be sure to remove any weights in the BCD and always be mindful of the amount of weight being suspended from the rod.  Wet gear is heavier than dry gear.

Bathing Suits/Swim Trunks/Towels: Everyday is a swim day when you are camped next to a lake or pool.  Have your swimming arsenal ready to grab every morning from the Ladder Gadget.

Camp solar shower:  Need to take a quick rinse or low on water in your rig; it’s no problem if you have your solar shower attached and ready to use.

Shower Enclosure: Purchase an outside shower enclosure to hang from the Ladder Gadget or get in touch with your creative side and make one yourself.  A quick search on Pinterest will pull up some crafty ones made from hula hoops and cloth or wire and plastic curtains. The shower enclosure can double as a changing room.

Tent or Lean-To:  Create a shelter for the kids to camp out under or  to store some of your belongings. Whatever the reason, the Ladder Gadget can help pitch a tent or support a lean-to using tarps or outdoor fabric.

Umbrellas and Raincoats: Hang your rainy day garments out to drip dry instead making puddles in your RV.

Stinky Shoes:  Keep the foot odor outside by airing out your sneakers and boots.  Hanging up your shoes, away from the ground, decreases the chance of finding a creepy crawler inside them the next day.

Miscellaneous

Laundry:  Let your newly washed laundry dry out one load at a time.  It will be ready to fold and put away in no time.

Dog Leash Holder:  Sometimes RV parks don’t allow leashes to be tied around trees or secured into the ground.  The Ladder Gadget is a great alternative to a leash holder for your pooch.

Bug and Butterfly Habitat: The Ladder Gadget can be used to display this educational tool for the kiddos, allowing them to observe insect life up close and personal. Simply attach a mesh cage that houses your choice of bug(s).  Kids can learn about the life cycle of butterflies or a praying mantis with their very own insect habitat. There are special kits sold for this very purpose.

Paintings: If painting is a favorite past time for you and the family, consider using your Ladder Gadget as an easel or place to dry your child’s finger paintings.

Clothing or Gear for Repairing: Patch up or sew worn out, tattered clothing, tarps, and blankets while they hang down from the gadget.

Mats and Rugs: With constant traffic coming in and going out of your rig, mats and rugs can get filthy fast. They are typically not meant to be thrown in the washer, so hanging them up to spray down or beat with a broom may be the next best thing.
